Building Partnerships … Working Together… Mississippi Department of Education Annual Parent Conference is the public information symposium dedicated to fostering positive family-school relationships. The conference will bring together parents, educators, advocates, organizers, and other stakeholders in an effort to build and support strong relationships that contribute to students being successful and reaching higher academic goals. Conference sessions are designed to help all stakeholders understand the rights of parents and children with disabilities, the educational process, and provide resources to support home-school partnerships.

Proposals for presentations are invited. Best practices and scientific research-based strategies are preferred. These can include, but are not limited to, collaborative practices, transition, Dyslexia, implementation of IDEA and Section 504, advocacy/empowerment, dispute resolutions, behavior/discipline, educational interventions, and creative ways to build parent/school relationships. Of special interest are presentations that address the meaningful educational benefit as defined in Endrew F. ex rel. Joseph F. v. Douglas Cty. Sch. Dist. RE-1, 137 S. Ct. 988, 999-1000 (2017).
When: October 19 – 20, 2017

Deadline for Submission: The proposal/abstract information, resume or vitae must be received by close of business on July 31, 2017. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
